SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE
4.1: Improve the quality, safety and environmental sustainability of marine and coastal transport services and nodes by promoting multimodality in the programme area

PROMARES enhance the transport planning competences by means of an in-depth cross-border study analysing each territory in detail, a dedicated training seminar and the elaboration of a cross-border action plan, to be tested through pilot actions; test ICT solutions for streamlining freight transport in the ports and the most relevant intermodal logistic node of the Programme Area, from the port to the hinterland and at cross-border level; set up an enduring cross-border cooperation network, simultaneously and innovatively combining a bottom-up (from stakeholders to policy makers) and top-down (from policy makers to concrete action) approach.

The Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea is a public body having as its primary task to direct, plan, coordinate, promote and control port operations and commercial and industrial activities in the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone. The Port of Trieste is is the top ranking Italian port for total throughout, with more than 62 million tons (2018) as well as for intermodal transport, with almost 10,000 trains (2018) having as main markets Central and Eastern Europe.

North Adriatic Sea Port Authority – Ports of Venice and Chioggia
NASPA is a public body established by the Italian Law 84/1994. Its task is to guide, plan, co-ordinate, promote and monitor operations in the ports of Venice and Chioggia. It is also in charge of maintaining common areas and the seabed, overseeing the supply of services of general interest, managing the State Maritime Property and planning the development of these ports.

The “Interporto di Trieste”, i.e. the RailRoad Terminal of Trieste is divided into two parts: 1) Fernetti Area: located close to the Italian-Slovenian border, offering intermodal services and has the fundamental role of inland terminal of the Trieste Port. 2) Bagnoli Area (FreeEste): this area belongs to Interporto since December 2017 and it offers the same intermodal services as in Fernetti, with the development of new activities due to the International Free Zone Regime of the area.

The Port of Ravenna is a multi-purpose port ranked first in Italy for the handling of cereals, food and feedstuffs, fertilizers, clay and metallurgical products. The Port of Ravenna Authority operates to direct, plan, coordinate, promote and control port operations, administers the State’s maritime assets, provides for the construction of port infrastructure and guarantees the maintenance of the common areas.

Central Adriatic Ports Authority has competence on the ports of Pesaro, Falconara, Ancona, San Benedetto, Pescara and Ortona. The port authority promotes the efficient development of infrastructure and supports actions to introduce innovation and improve freight and pax flows (11 mln tons and 1,2 mln pax per year respectively). Furthermore, the port authority is involved in a sustainable port-city relationship. The main is the port of Ancona, Core node of TEN-T network along the ScanMED corridor

Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority manages the port areas of Bari, Brindisi, Manfredonia Barletta and Monopoli and coordinates the relations among the public and private operators for security, passengers and goods services. Its primary task is to direct, plan, coordinate, promote and control port operations and commercial and industrial activities in the port.

RAM is an in house company and implementing body of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport, which is competent, in its scope of action, for the entirety of the Italian territory, including the Italian areas eligible for the Italy-Croatia CBC Programme. RAM has been given by the Ministry the task of developing short sea maritime and intermodal transport services as an essential mean of connecting regions in the Euro-Mediterranean context.
