question

19 - WP COMMUNICATION ACTIVITIES

Has the Kick-off Meeting to be considered as a meeting related to the start of the project activities or a kick-off event for a wider range of target groups? Furthermore, concerning the high level event foreseen in WP “Communication activities”, what are Programme’s expectations?

answer

The Kick-off Meeting (KoM) is usually considered to be the organized at the project beginning among the Lead Partner and Project Partners in order to share detailed operative work-plan, where objectives, methods, scope and filed of the project will be set with all partners. The kick-off meeting will launch the project by introducing it, its aims, strategies and planned actions. The KoM, as well as the other project events, is particular important for the project dissemination and early involvement of all project stakeholders.

During the KoM the press conference open to the different targets of the project (business operators, stakeholders, policy and decision makers etc.) may be organized by the Lead Partner or Project Partner (if other Project Partner is organizing the KoM). It is advisable that each Project Partner takes care of the publication of at least one press release at regional/national level on the project starting up.

The project events should be aimed at promoting the project as well as its progress and final outcomes. In particular and in relation to the Factsheet n. 3 "At least one high level event (involving relevant policy makers, presence of ESI funds MA and ETC Program MA and Macroregional strategies governing board)" the Programme is expecting from the projects the organization of at least one high level event during the project lifetime, possibly at a stage when the project is able to report the achievements and communicate its first results, involving relevant policy makers and spreading them towards relevant institutional representatives (like representatives MA of the regional/ national EU funds, national representatives of the relevant sector, members of the governing boards of the EU strategies etc.)
Possible moments are in the middle of the project lifetime and of course before the project closure that can match the final project event. It is up to each project to decide the communication strategy and activities to adopt related to the events that would best suit project purpose and have relevant and desired impact.
