Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion is the theme of this year IMD2020. 

Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme publishes a Projects’ Story-collection underlining the role of EU funds (ERDF) in supporting of the protection of cultural heritage and cultural sites, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility in the extensive Programme cross-border area of the Adriatic basin. Our projects are developing initiatives and concrete actions to promote inclusion and reach audiences who are unable to fully participate and enjoy the cultural life of the community while supporting, at the same time, equity, solidarity and democratic European values, building joint solutions starting from the shared resources.

Some of the main areas of intervention concern:

• improvement of accessibility for persons with special needs to the UNESCO sites, to museums and to less-known cultural sites both in coastal and inland areas
• improvement of accessibility of all citizens by the means of innovative multimedia solutions and installments (that in made available the museum attendance even during the COVID-19 lockdown)
• improvement of accessibility to the underwater archeological sites of the youth, elder, non-swimmers/divers and people with other special needs
