PRESENTATION OF THE INTERPRETATION CENTRE "DVOR"

Published on 28/09/2023 (last modified 28/09/2023)

In the Rector's Palace in Ston, the presentation of the interpretation centre "Dvor" was held, which was arranged as part of the TAKE IT SLOW project.

The main concept designer, Marko Barišić, presented the project itself, and in particular the interesting features offered by the centre.

"This project is just one of many that shows our effort to improve tourism and the cultural heritage of our county. Dubrovnik Neretva County was the lead partner out of as many as 12 partners from Croatia and Italy, the total value of the project was more than 3.7 million euros, DNC had one million euros at its disposal, and the focus of the project was precisely the Rector's Palace. The Centre where we are now is arranged as the 1st phase of the project" said Melanija Milić, director of the Regional Agency DUNEA, which prepared the TAKE IT SLOW project.

She added that in the past three years, eight strategic projects worth almost five million euros were contracted through Italy-Croatia cross-border cooperation programs, which is why this program is a key instrument for us to encourage regional development, but also to strengthen relations between Croatia and Italy. "In the next period, we expect the opening of a new call for project applications, and we will continue to invest in the preservation and promotion of our beautiful region", concluded the director of DUNEA.

In order to improve the management of the space, during the ceremony, Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić, Mayor of the Municipality of Ston Vedran Antunica and Director of DUNEA Melanija Milić signed the Addendum to the Agreement on Cooperation on the Project for the Establishment of an Interpretation Centre of Mediterranean Heritage, by which the County entrusted this space to the Municipality of Ston for management and use.
