City of Dubrovnik development agency DURA, in collaboration with Ires Ecology Ltd. and IUAV -University of Venice, a partner on the project iDEAL, held a focus group to present the proposed climate change adaptation measures for the City of Dubrovnik.
The training took place on June 5th, 2019 in Dubrovnik and was attended by DURA staff and representatives of the city's public administration.
Representatives of IRES ECOLOGY Ltd. gave a presentation on the relevance of climate change phenomena, explained key vulnerability areas for the City of Dubrovnik (urban heat islands, floods, rising sea levels) and presented proposed actions aimed at mitigating the already existing effects of climate change and preparing city area for the expected, upcoming natural changes.
Partners from the University of Venice introduced the Decision Support System (DSS) and a Climate Change Adaptation Plan monitoring system based on selected indicators for each measure. This system will in the future be used by the public city administration to evaluate all proposed climate change adaptation measures and select those that are expected to have the highest level of efficiency.
