Firefighters and emergency service workers visited Elementary school Vidikovac

Firefighters and employees of the emergency medical service with their vehicles visited Elementary School Vidikovac on Friday, November 25. The reason was not a fire, nor were there any injured people, but they performed a demonstration exercise on the occasion of the presentation of a comic and a picture book called "Everyday Heroes" created as part of the EU project FIRESPILL, implemented by the Region of Istria.

After the greeting speech of the school principal Ana Bačić, head of the regional Department for Health and Social Care Dr. Gordana Antić, the commander of the Fire Brigade of the Istrian County Dino Kozlevac, the commander of the Public Fire Station of Pula, Ivica Rojnić, and the representative of Institute for Emergency Medicine of the Region of Istria Dejan Martić spoke about the important role of emergency services in everyday life. The authors, Vjeran and Vibor Juhas from MASHINA studio and the manager of the FIRESPILL project Bruno Kostelić presented the comic and the picture book.

The goal of the comic and picture book is to present to the target groups and general public the idea of involving citizens in the processes of prevention and resolution of intervention situations that have the possibility of occurring (or have already occurred) in the area of the coastal counties of the Republic of Croatia. The comic book includes a number of crisis situations such as the war in Ukraine, the earthquakes in Petrinja and Zagreb, and sea pollution on the example of the oil spill in Raša in 2018, and showed the joint work and resolution of these crisis by the emergency services.
