The researchers of the InterReg Italy-Croatia AdSWiM project  at Sharper’s Night talked about the algal blooms of the Sea, about the purification systems and the quality of bathing water.

Researchers and University opened the doors to the public in Ancona on September 26 and 27, simultaneously with 300 other European cities. An appointment strongly desired by the Polytechnic University of Marche to bring the public and the world of Research closer thanks to an event mixed with entertainment and information.

SHARPER (Sharing Researchers' Passion for Evidences and Resilience) is the name given to the project co-financed by the European Commission, which is held simultaneously on Friday 27 September in 12 Italian cities (Ancona, Cagliari, Caserta, Catania, L'Aquila, Macerata, Naples, Nuoro, Palermo, Pavia, Perugia, Trieste). It's a European project co-financed by the European Commission within the framework of the Marie Curie Actions of the Horizon 2020 program and is one of the six projects selected in Italy by the Commission.

A green, red, brown liquid carpet. A carpet of seaweed from Portonovo to Passetto. From Ancona to Trieste, from Italy to Croatia. These are some of the territories where the samples were taken for the analysis carried out by Anna Anibaldi coordinator of the AdSWiM project of the UNIVM, and the Life and Environmental Sciences Department, in collaboration with Mauro Celussi of OGS in Trieste, with Nicola De Bortoli and Michele Mion from CAFC in Udine and from the Municipality of Pescara -  all involved in the AdSWiM project. The samples will be analyzed to evaluate the concentration of nutrients, pollutants and pathogens (presence of concentration of heavy metals, Escherichia coli, Enterococci, Pseudomonas in the Adriatic Sea and in the areas next to the depuration plants.  For the occasion, the researchers set up stands with microscopes and prepared materials so that the public could observe the drops of the sea and algae. For the little ones and their families, a demonstration laboratory was organized. The participants could in fact build small depuration plants with everyday objects and thus learn the basics of water purification in a playful and simplified way. For those who missed the magnificent evening, there is the video with some more significant moments and we are waiting for you on September 25, 2020!
